Translating
I've translated a range of fiction and non-fiction from French and Italian. Recent projects include Ennoia, a 1906 play by Jean Lorrain, and Chicanes (for Les Fugitives). I am currently working on a translation for Wakefield Press. In non-fiction, I am particularly interested in music and history. I have recently translated Exploring the Ecologies of Music and Sound by Makis Solomos (Routledge 2023) and am currently translating a history of the rise of populism. My co-translation of Faces on the Tip of my Tongue by Emmanuelle Pagano was longlisted for the 2020 International Booker Prize.
My book translations include:
Ennoia by Jean Lorrain, in Decadent Plays 1880-1930 (Methuen)
Chicanes by Clara Schulmann (Les Fugitives)
Exploring the Ecologies of Music and Sound by Makis Solomos (Routledge)
The Photographer of Auschwitz by Luca Crippa and Maurizio Onnis (Doubleday)
Faces on the Tip of my Tongue (co-translated with Sophie Lewis) by Emmanuelle Pagano (Peirene)
A Short Philosophy of Birds by Elise Dubois and Philippe Rousseau (WH Allen)
Trysting by Emmanuelle Pagano (And Other Stories)
